An In-Depth Overview of Defender Security...

When it comes to protecting your Land Rover Defender, you want the best security products on the market. Whether you use your Defender for off-roading adventures or daily commuting, having the right security measures in place is crucial. In this blog post, we will explore some of the top security products available for your Land Rover Defender, so you can have peace of mind knowing that your vehicle is well-protected.

1. Alarm System

An alarm system is an essential security feature for any vehicle, including the Land Rover Defender. The standard alarm on a Defender is actually quite good, so that's a good start! That said there are a number of products that you need to employ to make it REALLY good. BBUS relocation loom. This relocates the BBUS away from the vulnerable location behind the front passenger headlight. Main live relocation loom, we do a simple cable and kit to relocate this vulnerable wire inside the cab, we do however recommend leaving the old one in place (Made safe at either end). This will buy crucial time with the alarm going off if they thing they have cut power to it. You can also fit the pin switch loom to act as an early warning trigger for the alarm fitted behind the front passenger headlight this will trigger the alarm the moment the headlamp surround is removed.

Look for an alarm system that offers features such as remote arming and disarming, motion sensors, and a loud siren to alert you and others nearby in case of a break-in.

2. LRD Track

An LRD Track Defender Plus tracker is a valuable tool for recovering your Land Rover Defender in the unfortunate event of theft. These devices use satellite technology to track the location of your vehicle in real-time. It will also allow geofencing, which allows you to set virtual boundaries for your vehicle and receive alerts if it goes beyond those boundaries. This are sent to your phone in the form of a push notification. Other highlights of this tracker include using your phone as a bluetooth dongle for immobilisation (You can also have a separate dongle to give to a garage for servicing for example). In order to save money as well, we can sell the Defender Plus with a view to upgrade it at a later stage to a thatcham approved unit/installation. Future proofing our products should your insurance require a change in specification at a later date. This is on top of features we would see as standard... We might be biased but its the best tracker available for Defenders on the market today, with proper tried and tested support with over 40000 units in the field today using the same software...

3. Steering Wheel Lock

A steering wheel lock is a simple yet effective security measure that can deter thieves from attempting to steal your Land Rover Defender. We offer the BW600 for the simple reason that it is so much more convenient than other measures to store in the vehicle when not in use. The BW600 attach to your steering wheel, making it virtually impossible for someone to steer the vehicle without removing the lock.

4. Window guards

Use of window guards may make the Land Rover more purposeful looking. However there is no denying that they offer another level of security preventing the weakest part of any vehicle from being smashed...

5. Immobiliser

We can offer various means of immobilising the Landy, if you are happy with the cost of a tracker and subscription, the most effective immobiliser we do is the LRD Track Defender Plus of LRD Track S5 plus. Without the fob in these cases you won't be able to start the Landy... However if you don't feel you need the tracker on top of immobilisation, then we can help with some cheaper options... the TD5 or 2.2 will benefit massively from an inertia switch. This kit uses the benefit of the inertia switch to immobilise the Landy with a hidden switch. On all other models you can opt for the start inhibit kit. This introduces another switch into the starter circuit, again to use with a hidden switch. The nice thing is, on a TD5 or 2.2 you can actually employ both, and its a common combination of kits we send out to our customers...

6. Pedal lock

Sometimes cumbersome, we can provide a couple of options which won't be quite so cumbersome as other options on the market. The Pedal pin is an ideal solution to stop thieves using the clutch, while not completely infallible, it will go a long way to making life difficult, furthermore it is designed to be super simple, and easy to store the locking pin. Alternatively if you need a bit more security then we can sell the ardcase or ardercase. both of which are really good strong (and slightly heavy) units!

7. Deadlocks

The final thing we would add into this guide is deadlocks... with these in place you won't be opening the doors easily at all. not like the woeful standard locks...
